BattleKart Gateshead
About BattleKart Gateshead
BattleKart Gateshead is the chain's North East England venue, located at Unit 4 Riverside Metro, Delta Bank Road, NE11 9DJ, about a 10-minute drive from Newcastle city centre and directly opposite the Metrocentre. It runs BattleKart's format of electric karting combined with video games and augmented reality: you drive a real electric kart on a track with no physical obstacles, while projectors fixed to the ceiling of the hall project different circuits and game modes onto the floor across six modes (BattleRace, BattleColor, BattleSnake, BattleVirus, BattleFoot and BattlePool). Karts are single-seaters, open to anyone at least 1.45m (4'9″) tall with no separate minimum age, and no helmet is required thanks to an automatic anti-collision braking system, only a seatbelt.
Sessions run for groups of 2 to 12 players. Outside school holidays, the venue is closed Monday and Tuesday, opens 16:00-21:00 Wednesday and Thursday, 12:00-21:00 on Friday, and 10:00-21:00 on Saturday and Sunday; during school holidays it opens every day from 10:00 to 21:00. Gateshead offers two party packages, one for under-18s and one for adults, along with corporate events and stag and hen parties, backed by two private-hire rooms, one overlooking the track. Parking is free with 76 on-site spaces. Students get a 20% discount and Blue Light Card holders 10%, with a further discount for groups of 10 or more and a loyalty scheme offering an 11th session free.
