KartHopper

Privacy

Data required to provide the service

KartHopper has no user accounts at launch. To display the map, your browser sends the visible area and zoom level to the server; no separate GPS position or KartHopper user identifier is added to that request. The track catalog is stored server-side, and only the information required for the requested page or map area is sent to the browser.

Approximate area and preferences

If you use “Around me”, only an approximate area (coordinates rounded to about ten kilometres) is kept in your browser's localStorage, never your exact position. The language choice and the first-visit marker are stored there too. You can clear everything anytime by clearing the site's data in your browser.

Place search

The search input (city, region, track) is sent to the KartHopper server in the request body to return suggestions. It does not appear in URLs, is not logged by the application and is not sent to analytics.

Cookies and audience measurement

KartHopper sets a strictly necessary technical cookie lasting 24 hours to secure access to track details and limit automated extraction. A temporary HMAC pseudonymous identifier derived from the network address and general browser characteristics applies the same limit after the cookie is deleted; raw values are not stored in the quota store and the data expires after 24 hours. Audience measurement (page views and performance) is provided by Cloudflare Web Analytics, without cookies or profiling. Business events (searches, listing opens, outbound clicks, form submissions) are counted server-side as aggregated daily counters, without personal data, kept for thirteen months. No advertising tracker is used.

Forms

The group-interest form collects the occasion, area, approximate period, group size and a notification email; this data is deleted at the latest twelve months after submission, or thirty days after the launch notification email if it comes first. Reporting a listing collects the error type, a comment and an optional contact; the contact is erased upon resolution and the rest of the report deleted twelve months later. Nothing is forwarded automatically to tracks.

Outbound link measurement

When you click through to a track's official website, booking page, live timing or Sodi World Series, KartHopper records the track, destination, language, source page and date. KartHopper adds no user identifier to this event. This measurement helps assess the service's usefulness and referrals to tracks.

Technical logs

The server, hosted by OVH, processes technical connection logs (IP address, requested pages, timestamp) required for the security and operation of the service. These access logs are kept for a maximum of 7 days and then automatically deleted.
