Highway Kart Racing Kartbahn

Highway Kart Racing is an indoor karting track in Dortmund-Barop (Baroper Bahnhofsstraße 79, 44225 Dortmund). The site states 1600 metres of track inside a 10,900 m² indoor hall, a track width of 4 to 6 metres, 20 corners and a longest straight of 70 metres. The layout runs across two large halls; lap times are shown on a display board, every race is evaluated by computer, and positions, track records and daily best times are displayed to the thousandth of a second. An air exchange system with a nominal output of 150,000 m³ per hour is mentioned. Loan helmets are provided free of charge; a balaclava must be worn underneath (unit price 3.00 euros). Visitors may bring their own helmet, full-face only, as jet helmets are not permitted. Tight-fitting clothing and sturdy footwear are required. Children may drive themselves from a height of 1.40 m; adults may use the "Renntaxis" with their children from a height of 1.10 m. Minors may visit without a guardian with a parental consent form available for download on the site.

Renting the track requires at least 10 people, and the booking must be received no later than 48 hours before the race start; with fewer than 10 drivers booking is not possible and you must call 24 hours ahead to ask about free driving times. Telephone bookings are no longer accepted; booking goes through the online form. Every group receives a driver briefing with safety instructions, and every driver receives a printed race evaluation. The published packages are 38 euros per person (start directly from the pit lane), 51 euros per person (8-minute qualifying, starting grid, rolling start with pace kart release), 71 euros per person (16-minute qualifying, starting grid, rolling start, 35-minute race, prize ceremony including three trophies), 41 euros per person from 8 people, Friday to Sunday only between 10 and 12 o'clock (8-minute qualifying, 20-minute race), and 35 euros per child from 6 children aged 15 at most and at least 1.40 m tall, Monday to Friday between 10 and 18 o'clock (8-minute qualifying, 16-minute race, prize ceremony including three trophies). The Grand Prix von Barop costs 57 euros per participant, starts at 21:00 and consists of an 8-minute qualifying followed by a 30-minute race, with a trophy for each participant; it requires a car driving licence or a 6.5 hp licence and registration by e-mail. Companies can rent the track on request, with a buffet offer and meeting rooms available. The bistro can be rented with any booking from 15 people in combination with a buffet. Three trophies (bronze, silver, gold) cost 40 euros.
