Mid Wales Off Road Karting
About Mid Wales Off Road Karting
Mid Wales Off Road is an outdoor activity venue at Llywdcoed Mill in Aberhafesp, near Newtown in Powys, Wales. Alongside 360-degree excavator driving and 4x4 Land Rover trialing, it runs off-road rally karting on two outdoor tracks, given as approximately 1,500 metres combined, with left and right chicanes and up-and-down gradients on a muddy surface. The karts have Honda petrol engines with integrated roll cages, body harnesses and hand straps, and you drive from age 12 with a minimum height of 1.4 metres.
Before racing, you put on the waterproof overalls and helmet provided for a safety briefing, and each activity is allowed about two and a half hours; closed, sturdy footwear is required, with sandals and flip-flops not allowed. Racing is timed, with trophies awarded to the top three finishers, and the muddy karts can be pressure-washed afterwards. Booking runs by phone only, through Andrew Evans, with a non-refundable deposit paid by bank transfer, and the venue caters for team building days, stag and hen parties, birthday parties and family groups, saying it has run outdoor adventure experiences for groups for over 30 years.
