Wasaga 500 Go-Karts
About Wasaga 500 Go-Karts
Wasaga 500 is a family entertainment venue at 152 River Road West in Wasaga Beach, Ontario, on the shore of Georgian Bay. The go-kart track dates back to 1960, when Robert Croll laid out a first 500-foot dirt track with three go-karts; in 1980 the track was paved and extended to 2 km, making it one of the longest go-kart tracks in the world. Still family-run today by Michael Croll, the site also hosts baseball/softball batting cages and two 18-hole mini-golf courses.
The outdoor, high-banked Le Mans-style track is floodlit for evening driving and runs Canadian-made, Honda-powered karts, in solo and side-by-side two-seater versions. Solo driving requires being 10 years old and at least 54 inches (137 cm) tall; younger children ride free as a passenger in a two-seater kart alongside a paying adult. Pricing is per lap ($10 CAD a lap, with 7- or 12-lap packages), and the venue also hosts birthday parties (from 6 people) and group or corporate events (from 25 people).
